Megumi successfully dispels Divine Dog: Totality, all while keeping Kirara restrained. With a confident demeanor, Megumi asks Kirara to listen to him. Kirara, still skeptical, questions whether Megumi truly planned to use Divine Dog to restrain them. However, Megumi explains that he took a gamble and discovered that the one with the higher cursed energy output is the one who does the attracting. Initially, Divine Dog pulled Megumi, but when he reinforced his body with cursed energy, the opposite occurred. Despite being initially skeptical, Kirara decides to believe Megumi and agrees to listen. However, their conversation is interrupted as the monitor room door suddenly flies off its hinges, with Yuji being thrown out along with it. Megumi quickly notices that Yuji has been hit outside the room, and Panda comically laments his lack of help. Outside, Hakari's irritation is evident on his face. Yuji tells Megumi and Panda to stay out of it, which causes Hakari to feel underestimated. Without hesitation, Hakari throws a devastating punch that smashes Yuji's face and sends him reeling across the roof. Megumi, Panda, and even Kirara are surprised by the force of the hit. Hakari notices that Yuji doesn't even attempt to resist but manages to get back on his feet before falling to the ground. Yuji defiantly blows blood out of his nose, and Hakari remarks that Yuji is determined, stating that he won't dodge or fight back until Hakari breaks. Yuji refuses to stay down and resolves to be resilient until Hakari is broken. Hakari acknowledges that Yuji's lack of resistance confirms he is not a spy. He agrees to hear Yuji out but sets the condition that Yuji must remain standing. Flaring up his cursed energy, Hakari asks why Yuji specifically came to him for help. Yuji explains that all his senpai confirmed Hakari's strength, which annoys Hakari. In response, Hakari punches Yuji again, and Yuji compares Hakari's reinforced punches to being hit with a serrated bat. Annoyed, Hakari states that sorcerers understand that asking for a favor is asking someone to risk their life. He challenges Yuji to prove that he has the fever to convince him to take such a risk. Yuji asks Hakari about his function, irritating him further. Hakari believes that Principal Yaga should be getting rid of weaklings like Yuji, who has no fever. Yuji claims to be just a cog in the machine, a cog that sorcerers need to eliminate cursed spirits. Hakari finds this answer boring and prepares to strike again. Megumi expresses concern for Yuji, believing that he can't afford to take any more hits. Hakari lands another powerful blow, sending Yuji flying into the wall and seemingly incapacitating him. Hakari reveals that Satoru Gojo mentioned that Yuji's cursed energy has an edge to it, explaining the cutting sensation Yuji felt when getting hit. As Hakari begins to tell Megumi and Panda to grab Yuji and leave, Yuji suddenly reappears behind him. Hakari is genuinely surprised and takes a step back, questioning how Yuji is still standing after taking three unguarded blows. He asks Yuji what he truly is, and Yuji confidently repeats that he is just a cog. Yuji believes his function is to get rid of curses, acknowledging that Hakari is necessary for that purpose. He declares that he won't stop until Hakari agrees. Yuji then gets in Hakari's face, locks eyes with him, and asks him about his own function. Hakari meets Yuji's gaze and questions whether this is the look of a cog in fever. Despite wanting to continue punching Yuji, Hakari is interrupted by Kirara, who grabs his attention. Kirara points out that Yuji is burning with fever. Kirara asks Hakari if Yuji's fever is burning hot enough for him now, surprising Hakari. He acknowledges the undeniable truth in Kirara's words, admitting that Yuji's fever never lies. Hakari agrees to hear Yuji out and tells Megumi and Panda that he is finally willing to make a deal. Megumi and Panda are left bewildered by the sudden resolution and ask Kirara if what they said convinced him, to which Kirara confirms. They reveal that despite their disdain for higher-ups, they recognized that Hakari's fever burned the hottest when he was helping others at Jujutsu High.
